I work with individuals from a psychodynamic perspective, to explore how conscious and unconscious processes affect current patterns, emotions, and behavior. The goal of psychodynamic therapy, also known as “insight-orientated” therapy, is to increase self-awareness, relieve tension, and open up avenues for change. I integrate body-orientated methods to support individuals in connecting with their own capacity for healing. I work with compassion, respect, and a deep belief in people’s ability to develop increased ease and clarity in their lives.
Of particular interest to me is working with individuals around traumatic experiences, anxiety, depression, issues of identity, and those who are facing challenging life circumstances. For the past five years, I have worked with children and adults who have experienced child abuse and neglect. I am trained in Somatic Experiencing, a body-orientated method designed to support individuals in processing traumatic experience. I provide short-term, long-term, and crisis intervention treatment.
I have been fortunate to work with clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and spiritual backgrounds. I speak Spanish, and I am committed to providing culturally competent services to all clients.
I offer fees on a sliding scale, and I also accept insurance. My office is BART and MUNI accessible.
