I provide individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy using a flexible approach which includes psychodynamic, family systems/intergenerational, cognitive, experiential and solution-focused approaches. I am collaborative, interactive and offer perspective and hope as people move toward their own solutions and potential, while recognizing and building on their strengths. My clients report that they appreciate the spirit of optimism I bring to our work together as well as an emphasis on the need to bring action (as well as understanding) to their process of growth and change. Our work may also include occasional use of nonverbal sculpture, guided imagery, breathing and meditation.
Areas of particular interest include: family/couple relationships and issues; women's issues; separation and loss; recovery from past trauma; conjoint sessions with family members ( parents/adolescents; parents/sons and daughters; mother/adult daughter; siblings). I am interested in and sensitive to interracial and multicultural issues and respectful of spiritual concerns. For the past twenty years one fourth of my practice has related to gay/lesbian/bisexual and transgender persons and their family members....an interest that developed from my experience as a parent of lesbian and straight daughters.
