Since 1980 my practice as a psychologist has developed in two seemingly divergent directions: work with people who have experienced past or recent trauma; and with people in the arts who are actively seeking development of their creative process. Sometimes, of course, these are the same people! Anxiety, phobias, physical pain, relationship issues, career choices, family conflict, parenting concerns, spiritual crises, aging, loss- all these are part of the human experience, and thus, part of the therapeutic partnership. As a musician, (published) poet, and woman in my late 60's, I find it an honor to work with women and men (about 50/50) who have the drive to create more freedom in their lives by facing and sometimes facing down the forces that keep them stuck. Like moving a piano, it's not a one-person job! As a regular practice, the intial telephone contact includes a 5-10 minute consultation, to assure that an appointment will be appropriate and likely helpful.
