I am a clinically trained Art Therapist with a Humanistic theoretical orientation. I integrate the principles of Humanistic Psychology into my work as an art therapist; to assist individuals, re-discover their voice. In a non-judgmental therapeutic environment, individuals are able to find self-acceptance.
As an art therapist I focus on helping my clients use the creative process to find, or re-discover, their voice. It is my belief that various experiences can leave individuals feeling silenced. As an art therapist I focus on helping my clients use the creative process to find empowerment.
I believe you are your best advocate. Through a strength-based approach I will assist you in discovering that you have something important to say, and your voice deserves to be heard.
I have extensive training in domestic violence and trauma, specializing in the effects on children and the use of play therapy as a means to promote resiliency. I have worked extensively with divorce, custody, and visitation cases, and have an understanding of how these processes affect children.
My work with children:
Children cope with life stressors the best they can. I believe in building on the natural strength of a child, as a means to help them cope. This is also known as resilience. Through fostering resilience, children are able to better endure their current life stressors as well as those that will happen in the future. Resilience is the basis of my work with children.
