What I offer is a private, comfortable and confidential space for you to be able to talk about your problems and discover what is right for you to do about them. I integrate several approaches to psychotherapy including creative arts, gestalt, psychodrama, cognitive, behavioral and family therapies into my work with you.
If you have struggled with eating behaviors I can help you release yourself from the vicious cycle of dieting and self criticism and find a satisfying way to enjoy your eating experiences and to accept and enjoy your body. If you are in recovery from addictive behaviors you can enhance your 12 step recovery through psychotherapy. If you are struggling with aspects of your 12 step programs I can help you develop a way to use them without losing yourself. If you prefer alternative approaches to resolving your addictive or compulsive behaviors I am open to the idea that recovery has many paths. I can help you work through shifting behaviors that you find are hurting you whichever approach(es) you want to utilize. Often people find their upbringing (alcoholic and other dysfunctional families) is still impacting their lives. I specialize in helping you identify and work through any historical family problems that are in your way today. If you feel stuck at work or in your creative endeavors I utilize experiential methods along with talk therapy to help you dissolve barriors to your success and satisfaction. If you are having problems with relationships I offer couples and family work as well as individual. I help people identify other ways they deprive themselves: by not enough money through underearning, low self esteem holding you back at work, compulsive shopping, credit card debt, hoarding and clutter.
Deciding to start Psychotherapy is a very difficult decision. I hope we are able to meet so that you can feel the relief that following through on asking for and getting professional help can provide.
