All families experience challenges and stress from time to time. Sometimes it can interfere with the normal functioning of the family. Examples of some problems I've helped families overcome are: children with behavioral problems at school or at home; couples who've hit a rough spot in their marriage; adoptive parents or remarried parents whose children need help adjusting to the new arrangements; and "Baby Boomers" who are trying to cope with caring for an elderly parent.
My practice is unique in that counseling services take place in your own home, rather than in an office. My clients appreciate the convenience, comfort, and confidentiality that in-home counseling provides.
Health insurance generally only covers 50% of the cost of mental health services, may have a deductible, and may limit the number of sessions. Reports have to be provided to them which compromise your confidentiality. Since my fees are only about half of what my colleagues who accept insurance charge, I think you'll find that it is probably less costly and certainly more confidential to pay privately for counseling services.
