Resume Summary:
Personal: I am a husband and father of four. My youngest, Anthony, is at senior in high school. Emily is a senior in college. Both are preparing for the next level. My oldest daughter, Sarah, teaches 5th grade at a charter school in Boston. She and her husband, David, produced Alexander who is simply the greatest grandchild in the world. Jesse, my oldest, is an urban planner and Director of Economic Development for the Mayor of San Francisco. Jesse remains an avid Red Sox fan. My wife, Stephanie, is a pediatric neuropsychologist at the Children's Evaluation Center in Newton and a decent hockey player. We live in Lexington with our beloved, cute, but not-real-bright, dog, Molly. Professional Philosophy: I've always believed in "empowering"... even before it was in vogue. This concept has guided my professional career as a clinician and administrator. I am convinced that, given the right information, people are going to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. My job is to provide information, support, and sometimes, prospective. It's not real complicated. I care a lot about people and I like my work. Professional Style: Although my style is rather casual (I try to never wear a tie), I am fairly traditional in my approach. Since most of my work has been with adolescents in crisis, so very little surprises me. I fully recognize how difficult it is to seek help so I am most willing to reach out to young people and parents. In family sessions I am usually quite active. I tend to push pretty hard for change. I believe that we can accomplish a lot in in few sessions. Finally, although I practice psychotherapy, I don't think therapy is always the best answer. I appreciate each person's capacity to find his or her own solutions. To print this page, click on it and then select print from your browser. |
