Let's talk.

“What do you want therapy to accomplish?” is one of the first questions we’ll tackle to find the approach that works for you. As your therapist my clinical ‘toolbox’ would include techniques from CBT (challenge your assumptions to change your outcomes), DBT (learning the discipline of different perspectives), EMDR (bilateral eye movements to re-process trauma), Solution-focused Therapy (brainstorming your values, goals, and practical paths forward), and mindfulness exercises. Perhaps the most important tool is the cooperative alliance between therapist and client. Feeling comfortable and building trust is typically step one. I look forward to standing with you as a clinical ally for growth, healing, and transformation.

The mission of New Cognition KC is to provide professional compassion, counseling, and advocacy for an increasing slice of the mental health gap in Kansas City. This is why I offer a Financial Feasibility Form, which considers a total picture of debt to income, and other burdens that may make you eligible for a discounted rate. Phone consultations are free; emails (while not guaranteed confidential) can also be used to establish care, since phone calls (while preferable for establishing therapy) can be difficult in some situations. I look forward to your inquiries and our potential therapeutic partnership.
